Your Itinerary
Departing from Ho Chi Minh City at 0800 we’ll be driven 30km out of Saigon. Having left the teeming traffic behind, you’re free to cycle quiet back roads past rice paddies and shady rubber plantations to the Cu Chi Tunnels. These remarkable three-tiered structures, which total more than 250 km in length, provided a safe haven for thousands of villagers and soldiers and allowed the Viet Cong were crucial control over a large area around Saigon. Today the remaining tunnels attract many visitors, giving them a unique taste of underground life in the American war. The district of Cu Chi was more savagely devastated by bomb, shell and gas attack than any other area in history. Throughout this terrible time, the tunnels enabled the Vietnamese to live in relative safety and move their soldiers and weaponry without being noticed by American troops. After lunch at the tunnels with views across the Saigon River, continue your scenic cycling tour to Trang Bang and then across country by bike or bus towards Ha Nghia and Duc Hoa. In the afternoon return to Saigon by vehicle.
