Your Itinerary

The tour begins with a visit to Cai Be’s floating market – a kaleidoscope of colour where you can cruise amongst barges laden with fresh fruits and vegetables. If you choose, you can stop at local workshops to watch the artisans making coconut candy and rice popcorn. At the handicraft village, see how they make some local but special essentials: rice net for spring rolls, fish sauce, soya sauce and cooking salt. Then we head for the Mekong River’s evergreen islands via the extensive network of meandering tributaries, criss-crossed with countless arroyos (dry creeks that fill seasonally). It’s truly peaceful here: sit back and take in the traditional homes made from wood and palm leaves and watch the farmers and fishermen at work. Look out for the famous monkey bridges – precarious, arching footbridges that connect the tiny villages to the main roads. If you’re lucky you’ll see how the locals, laden with goods, make crossing these tightrope bridges look easy! After lunch at one of the ancient houses, there’s time for a stroll and a feast of local fruits and music.  You can also take to a bike to explore the village paths and discover the delights of rural Mekong. After your leisurely cruise, disembark at Vinh Long and head back to Ho Chi Minh City.
